Window Repairs Across Cornwall

Repairs for sticking, draughty or weather-worn windows, timber sills and frames in Cornwall homes, cottages and holiday lets.

Salt-laden wind and driving rain attack window sills, frames and seals faster on the coast, and older cottage windows often swell or stick after damp winters.

A repair built around the actual condition

What Window Repairs Across Cornwall can involve

This established window-repair page is the canonical home for rotten wooden window-sill repair as well as sticking openings, hardware and timber-frame concerns. Keeping the intents together avoids a competing thin window-sill URL.

Rotten window sills

Localised decay can sometimes be cut back to sound timber and repaired without replacing the complete window, provided the remaining frame is suitable.

Peeling paint and exposed wood

Loose coatings are removed, the timber condition checked and bare areas prepared before an appropriate exterior primer and finish are applied.

Water ingress

Open joints, failed seals and surrounding water paths are considered before cosmetic work, because repainting alone will not stop recurring moisture.

Sticking windows and hardware

Swelling, hinge or stay wear and alignment are assessed so the cause is addressed without removing unnecessary timber.

Replacement sill sections

Where local repair is suitable, damaged material is removed, replacement timber is fitted and the joint prepared for the agreed exterior coating system.

Sealed glass units

Misted or broken double-glazed units are handled through the dedicated measuring and replacement service.

How the next step works

A clear route from photographs to an agreed scope

Step 1

Photograph the whole opening

Include the sill, lower corners, opening edge and any internal staining or exterior coating failure.

Step 2

Inspect condition and water paths

The frame, hardware, surrounding finish and extent of any softness are checked before the repair method is confirmed.

Step 3

Repair and protect

Suitable local repairs are made, then prepared and finished where decoration is included.

Local FAQs

Questions before booking

Can you repair a rotten window sill without replacing the window?

Often, yes. Localised rot in a sill or frame section can frequently be cut out, spliced and refinished if it is caught early. Send close-up photos and a wider shot so the extent can be assessed first.

Can I send photos before booking a visit?

Yes. Clear wide shots and close-ups help us understand the issue, location, access and likely trade support before arranging the next step.

Do you support holiday lets, landlords and second homes?

Yes. We work with occupied homes, rentals, holiday lets and remotely managed properties, with timing and communication adapted to the property.

How is regulated work handled?

Electrical, gas and other regulated work is handled by suitably qualified support where required. We do not present general maintenance attendance as a substitute for certification.

Can this be included in an ongoing care plan?

Yes. Repeated repairs, seasonal checks and remote-owner reporting may be better handled through a planned care arrangement rather than isolated callouts.

Liam did a brilliant job on my dad’s kitchen, when he was let down by the previous kitchen fitter. Liam not only managed to fit my dad in quickly, he was professional, did a fantastic job, was reasonably priced and got the job done quickly even though it was a big job. Highly recommend.
